
Arlene Battis Experience Highlights
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Arlene graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from American University’s School of Government and Public Administration (1972). Alpha Chi Omega; Pi Sigma Alpha. Arlene attended the George Mason University School of Law (1976) (now the Antonin Scalia Law School).
In addition to being the Senior Associate Advocacy Director for the Paralyzed Veterans of America (1980-1986), Arlene worked with the US Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board as a liaison to Steven Diaz, appointed to serve on the Board by President Ronald Reagan.
Later in her career, Arlene was an associate with Cochran and Pijor, a boutique law firm in McLean, Virginia where she practiced employment and military law. She has always remained committed to Veterans’ issues and is a strong supporter of disability rights.
